In the ever-shifting expat landscape, September means coming back from home leave, adjusting to a new assignment or facing the reality of how many friends have moved away.
Children go back to school. The weather starts changing. A new season is around the corner.September is a month of new beginnings, like January. As such, it lends itself to good resolutions.
Unlike their January counterparts, September resolutions are less about what we should do and more about what we want to do. Get a fresh, stylish hairstyle. Learn how to dance the salsa. Go after that big promotion at work.
September is for getting inspired, following your fancy and trying something new.
What do you feel like doing? What talent do you want to develop? What yearning do you want to satisfy?
This month, I’ll be stepping into my new role as an author, as I start working on my first book (gasp!)
And since I need to balance hard work with something creative in order not to go crazy, I am going to learn how to play a musical instrument, even though I know nothing about music. The two contenders: Celtic harp and electric bass. I know, they couldn’t be more different. That’s what’s exciting.
